Pre-assessment

Remote pre-assessment: frames, declaration and a result with a stated ceiling.

What happens first

A pre-assessment is a remote first look taken without ever receiving the object. You take the photographs first and the email comes after; at the end there is a result with a stated ceiling.

  1. 01You start with guided capture: eight required frames and two optional ones. The frames stay on your device; nothing is sent to us at this step.
  2. 02Once the required frames are complete, you ask for a sign-in link with your email address; an account is needed so the result can be tied to you.
  3. 03When you sign in, your request is opened, your frames are uploaded and each one goes through a quality pre-check.
  4. 04You declare your home measurements and the trade term. These are claims, not observations, and are used only in the consistency checks.
  5. 05A preliminary finding comes out: material candidates, period band, red flags and the tests needed to settle it. If you wish, you continue to a record application; the fee you paid is credited against it.

Frames requested

  • General — whole strand on a flat surface · Required
  • Imame — close-up · Required
  • Bead — macro · Required
  • Hole mouth · Required
  • Backlit — internal structure · Required
  • Raking light — surface marks · Required
  • Tassel and whip system · Required
  • Weight on a kitchen scale · Required
  • UV365 — consumer lamp (optional) · Optional
  • Hallmark / signature (optional) · Optional

Slots come from the capture protocol; the server decides the order and what is required.

If you upload a screenshot or a broadcast frame it is not rejected, but the result is capped at “further examination required”: in a twice-compressed image, colour and surface texture belong to the screen rather than to the artefact.
